Updated Feb. 20: Trey Holly is maintaining his innocence and took to Facebook to address the attempted murder charges levied against him.

“As you guys know I was recently arrested on 3 felony charges. I have been falsely identified, accused, and arrested. I am 100% innocent and the people that know me know this is not my character at all,” the LSU running back wrote. “I was not involved in the incident at all. I was at home which is where the incident took place. I turned myself in because I was notified of an arrest warrant and I wanted to fully cooperate. Due to this being an ongoing investigation I cannot give many details. To my fans I’m sorry for the confusion but you guys know this is not me at all. I will come back better than ever and I look forward to proving my innocence. To the REAL ONES thank you guys for standing beside me through this tough time, I got this and my story will be told one day and it will be LEGENDARY.”

LSU running back Trey Holly was arrested and charged with second-degree attempted murder in connection to a shooting at a Louisiana apartment complex that injured two people.

Holly, a 19-year-old freshman, turned himself in Thursday. He’s being held on $512,000 bond. Holly was also charged with one count of aggravated criminal damage to property and one count of illegal use of a weapon (on a public roadway) Union Parish Sheriff Dusty Gates told The Advocate.

Kelvin Rodgers, one of Holly’s attorneys, told The Advocate that his client plans to plead not guilty to all three charges.

“Mr. Holly emphatically denies all charges,” Rodgers told the outlet, “and we look forward to having our day in court.”

The injured people were bystanders, according to the Union Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Holly was suspended indefinitely by LSU, according to reports.

“We are aware that a student-athlete has been arrested in relation to a shooting in Union Parish,” the school said in a statement. “This student-athlete has been suspended indefinitely from all team activities, in accordance with departmental policies. Out of respect for the judicial process, we will have no further comment.”

The 5-foot-7, 192-pound tailback had 11 carries for 110 yards and a TD for the Tigers in 2023. He holds Lousiana’s all-time rushing record with 10,523 yards.

Two others, including a 17-year-old minor, were also arrested in connection with the Farmerville, La. shooting.

LSU went 10-3, finishing second in the SEC West. It defeated Wisconsin, 35-31, in the ReliaQuest Bowl on Jan. 1.
