Most superstar athletes splurge on lavish mansions, luxury penthouses, and extravagant estates. But not Jalen Hurts. The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback has made an unusual choice—renting a modest apartment for just $2,000 a month. So, what’s behind this decision? Let’s take a look.

Biggest Contract in NFL History, Surprisingly Simple Lifestyle

In 2023, Hurts signed a five-year, $255 million extension, making him one of the highest-paid players in the league with an annual salary of $51 million. Yet, instead of moving into a sprawling mansion, he chose to stay in his rental apartment in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.

For most NFL stars, upgrading to a multimillion-dollar estate is the norm. But for Hurts, it’s all about practicality. In a 2021 interview, he explained that since he lives alone, he sees no need for a massive house.

Staying Humble Despite the Millions

Hurts has been renting his Cherry Hill apartment since 2020, right after he entered the league. He’s never felt the urge to move, saying it provides everything he needs. Plus, being just minutes from Philadelphia makes it the perfect spot for his busy career.

Even after landing his record-breaking contract, he stuck with his modest lifestyle—a rare display of financial discipline and humility.

He Buys Homes—Just Not for Himself

While Hurts is content with his $2,000-a-month apartment, he has no problem spending big on real estate—for his family. He bought his father a $215,000 home in his hometown of Humble, Texas, and in 2023, he gifted his mother a spacious 3,000-square-foot house in Houston.

He’s also made some major personal investments. In 2021, he purchased a 6,000-square-foot mansion for $6 million, just five miles from his childhood home. He even bought the neighboring property for $2.68 million, likely for added privacy.

So, while he might live modestly day to day, Hurts has quietly built an impressive real estate portfolio. His approach proves that success isn’t about showing off—it’s about staying true to who you are.
